The US state of Maine has approved its first casino - Hollywood Casino Bangor.

The state’s Gambling Control Board granted a gaming licence to Hollywood Slots Hotel and Raceway and approved its plans to rebrand as Hollywood Casino.

The property, which is operated by Penn National Gaming, is to expand from a slots-only venue to a fully-fledged casino. The facility has been operating at the raceway since 2005 and will be reopen with the state’s first casino table games in March. GPI was also approved as a supplier of table equipment.

Another gaming facility, Oxford Casino in Oxford, is presently under construction and has applied for its own casino licence to operate both slots and table games.
