Plans are being put forward for a new casino in the northern Luxembourg town of Clervaux.

According to the Luxemburger Wort, newly elected mayor Emile Eicher is considering boosting the local tourism offering through the creation of a casino.

Although stressing that the proposals are only in the very earliest stage, Eicher said the possibility of opening a gaming facility was worth investigating. It would not, however, be a large-scale casino property, he said.

Luxembourg presently has just one casino, Casino 2000, in Mondorf-les-Baines in the south of the country, which was opened in the 1980s.
