The UK’s largest casino group, Genting Casinos, has acquired Fox Poker Club, London’s only dedicated poker venue.

The Shaftsbury Avenue club, which was founded in 2005 by Chris North and Ian Hogg, was granted a full UK casino licence in 2008 and opened in September last year.

“It was always a dream of mine to open a poker club in London and although it’s been a real challenge, with delayed openings and not getting our 24-hour licence until July this year, I’m extremely proud of what we’ve achieved,” North said. “The club is in a great position to continue growing and we are very pleased that it is passing to such good hands. We wish the club and Genting all the success in the future.”

The Fox Poker Club employs over 80 members of staff and has amassed more than 20,000 members.

Genting UK has over 45 casinos throughout the country under the Genting Casino and Genting Club brands. In London, the company has five casinos including its flagship property Crockfords in Mayfair.

It is also in the process of developing a large casino at the NEC in Birmingham.
