First casino planned for Jamaica
There are plans to open a casino at the Grand Palladium hotel at Point in Lucea, Jamaica.
Speaking to the Sunday Gleaner, hotel manager Dimitri Kosvogiannis said the hotel was already seeking a partner.
“Plans are well in advance for this full-scale casino right here on the property,” he said. “I am presently in discussion with a major US entity to partner with us in this venture.”
Construction work on the project is expected to begin early next year, he added.
After years of debate, the government recently passed new gaming regulations allowing for the development of resort casinos in the country in order to boost tourism.
