The Rank Group is aiming to create 1,400 new casino jobs by 2015 through the expansion of its Grosvenor Casinos estate.

The UK-based casino and leisure group said it is planning to increase the number of casinos it operates from 35 to 45 within the next four years, 30 of which will be presented under the G Casino brand.

Rank saw revenues from its Grosvenor Casinos business increase 5.8 per cent during the first six months of the year.

The firm, which remains a listed entity despite a recent takeover by the Guoco Group, revealed that overall revenues rose 4.6 per cent to £294m, with its casinos arm contributing £123.4m thanks to an increase in customers and customer visits.

Grosvenor’s operating profits rose 14.8 per cent to £20.2m.

Rank chairman Ian Burke said the company had maintained the progress of recent years due to rising customer numbers.

"We have a portfolio of some of the strongest brands in UK gaming and the ability to reach our customers through our estate of well-invested venues, our high quality websites and increasingly via mobile channels."

The company is now planning to focus on the crossover opportunities between its land-based and online gaming brands.
