Lithuania's State Gaming Control Commission has lowered the licensing fees for gambling devices, casinos, slot machines, bingo halls, sweepstakes and betting.

The move to amend Lithuanian gambling laws came after disappointing tax revenues from the gambling sector. The Lithuanian government has long practised an anti-gambling policy that was responsible for the creation of very high gambling fees. These fees were designed to keep the numbers of gambling devices and casino tables to a minimum.

The lowering of the fees is intended to increase the overall number of gaming machines and tables in Lithuanian gambling establishments.
