WMS Gaming has received GLI's approval for its WAGE-NET networked gaming system and Jackpot Explosion, the first themed application in its Ultra Hit Progressive Portal application family. The UHP series is the first of five Portal families expected to interoperate with multiple gaming machines on a casino floor utilising the WAGE-NET system.

Having received these approvals, WMS will begin the commercial launch of WAGE-NET and Jackpot Explosion into gaming jurisdictions served by GLI in the US. The company anticipates the first rollout of the new solutions will be in the Native American casinos in California that are presently running tests of the products, followed by other tribal and commercial casinos among the 12 properties currently acting as test sites.

Once secondary approvals are granted by other GLI-served gaming jurisdictions, WAGE-NET and Jackpot Explosion will then be installed in additional casinos. The company recently also began a field trial of the products in Nevada.

"GLI approval for the commercial version of the core WAGE-NET system, the UHP Portal application family and the first theme in the UHP family, Jackpot Explosion, represents a major milestone in our plan to further our Casino Evolved vision, which offers a premium value proposition to the marketplace," said Orrin Edidin, president of WMS.

The initial placements have already demonstrated the value of portal application operating with a base game, he said, stating that coin-in premiums have been averaging 35 per cent to 40 per cent across more than 270 Bluebird2, Bluebird xD and upgraded Bluebird gaming machines at the 12 casinos.

"WMS is firmly committed to leading the industry’s adoption of networked gaming solutions and the approval of our commercial version of the WAGE-NET system allows us to further support our customers’ deployment of networked services throughout their enterprise and to help them generate higher value from their gaming technology investments."
