US-based operator Harrah's Entertainment has changed its name to Caesars Entertainment. The Harrah's name will continue to be on the company's core brands.

"The change reflects our evolution as the industry’s leading provider of branded casino entertainment," explained Gary Loveman, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the operator. "While our name is changing, our dedication to who we are as a company will remain the same.

"Our employees will remain dedicated to the innovation, customer-service excellence and corporate citizenship that have been hallmarks of our company for decades.

"This rebranding of the corporate name can open exciting new opportunities for us in the future."

The news follows a decision by the company to withdraw plans announced earlier this month to float on the stock market. The operator, which also owns UK casino group London Clubs International, terminated its initial public offering "due to market conditions".
