Harrah's Entertainment has submitted plans to build a new casino resort in the US state of Kansas.

The company applied to the Kansas Lottery Commission for permission to begin work on a Las Vegas-style casino and 100-room hotel in Mulvane, the state’s South Central Gaming Zone.

"Harrah’s Entertainment believes our proposed casino resort offers extraordinary benefits to the State of Kansas and Sumner County," said Jacqueline Peterson, spokesperson for the operator.

"Our company has a 73-year history of successfully building and managing great casinos in both large scale markets like Las Vegas and in regional destination markets that increase tourism and economic activity. This expertise can be applied to the South Central Gaming Zone to deliver the best casino resort for Sumner County.

"We look forward to connecting with the community and the Kansas Lottery Commission to discuss our plans for Harrah’s Kansas in Sumner County."
