Alea Casino on Clarence Dock, Leeds, UK, welcomed a host of television and sporting stars for a celebrity poker tournament last week.

Headed up by Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher, the 20-strong group took part in a ‘friendly’ poker tournament to practice for a series of charity tournaments they plan to hold at the casino over the coming months.

Among those taking up the challenge were Fletcher’s fellow soap stars Adam Thomas, Lyndon Ogbourn, James Sutton, Alex Carter, Ric Makerem and Luke Tittensor, Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, Leeds United midfielder Neil Kilkenny and Leeds Rhinos stars Luke Burgess, Lee Smith and Jamie Thackray.

Organiser Fletcher was ultimately triumphant, taking the poker crown ahead of second-placed Marvyn Williams from Channel 4’s Shipwrecked.

"The evening was a great success," said Emma Murray, customer relations consultant at Alea. "It was a pleasure to welcome so much local talent into the casino and everyone had a great time. It is great that Alea is being recognised as one of Leeds’ top entertainment destinations - we have so much to offer.

"Kevin’s celebrity crew will be back in a few weeks to fundraise on a regular basis for a selection of worthy local charities."
