Astro Corp reported unprecedented levels of interest after its first day of exhibiting at the largest gaming showcase in Asia.

As opportunities in gaming shift increasingly west to east, G2E Asia has become a popular event for manufacturers to showcase products designed specifically for the local market, as well as understanding how the industry is evolving on a global scale. Currently, US combined gaming revenues are estimated to be $34bn. However, according to the American Gaming Association, Asia is predicted to overtake the US by 2012.

Astro Corp launched a number of new games at the G2E Asia event in Macau, with the majority specifically targeted at emerging domestic markets.

With more than 70 video slots and video AWP games for both casino and amusement sectors, the graphic displays for which Astro Corp is becoming world-renowned acted as a crowd draw and business was brisk.

Astro chief executive officer Simon Herbert said: “Although Astro Corp’s reach and reputation is global, its home market here in Asia is incredibly important to us. Asia’s casinos enjoy combined annual earnings of over $20bn and, significantly, the contribution from slots and electronic gaming is increasing. This, combined with the prospect of additional new markets in Taiwan, Singapore and several other countries, represents a huge opportunity for Astro Corp.

“Our philosophy has always been to develop specific products for each market and our stand showcases a number of new games developed specifically for Macau.”
