ILD, the company behind the Gran Scala project in Spain, has reportedly revised its plans in light of current economic conditions.

According to local reports, the company has reduced the size of the first phase of the project and is seeking new operators due to the way the global financial crisis has impacted upon the leisure industry.

“Several important casino groups have postponed investments, as well as the development of new projects,” ILD representatives said.

Gran Scala is to feature 32 hotel casinos, five major theme parks, a conference centre, hundreds of retail shops, restaurants, a golf course, a horse race track museums and residential developments.
