The development will see the first appearance in the region of MGM brands such as an MGM hotel and MGM Residences and a local version of the famous Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, which is an MGM property.

Bill Hornbuckle, president of MGM Resorts went on record as describing the deal as “the first time we will offer multiple MGM luxury brands at a prime beach front location.”

The announcement follows a presentation by MGM to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and Prime Minister of the UAE and Dubai’s ruler. The project will include a 500,000sq.ft theatre with many dining and shopping venues, a museum, beach club and “adventurous zones” for families.

It is expected that work will begin on the project towards the end of 2017 and it will take four years to complete.
