Vietnamese locals will be required to meet a certain monthly income level in order to be permitted to gamble at local casinos, according to the latest draft decree, says VN Express.
As well as being 21 years of age or older, the local Vietnamese gambler would also need to earn at least VND10m (US$440) per month in order to be allowed to enter a casino in the country.
The gambler must also not have any family members opposing their wish to gamble. These family members can send a letter to notify casinos and request a ban.
Last month, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc announced that Vietnamese citizens will be able to gamble at two local casinos, one on Phu Quoc Island and the other at Van Don Special Economic Zone near the Chinese border, local media reports.
While the road to gambling legalisation for locals has been a long and arduous one, industry observers are confident that the gaming decree will be signed off soon.
