Plans for a 2,000-slot casino in Jacksonville in the US state of Florida have taken another step forward.
The Jacksonville City Council has approved a referendum that would allow slot machines at the Bestbet poker room. Bestbet wants to operate 2,000 slot machines. It is the state’s largest poker room and also offers greyhound simulcasts.
However, it remains to be seen whether the referendum will even matter, as the state Supreme Court is considering a case that will decide whether voters have the right to approve slot machines.
