The Macau Government Tourism Office has estimated non-gaming revenue could reach MOP112bn ($14.05bn) by 2025, in a newly presented tourism plan, local media reports.

The Macau Tourism Industry Development Plan focuses on increasing tourist visitation, increasing the number of budget hotels, expanding the waterfront area and pushing non-gaming revenue to MOP14bn in 2025, as well as attracting more diverse visitors.

The consultation paper is available for public consultation June 22.

MGTO director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said: “The first stage of this plan has been completed and we now have a general draft, which will be available for public consultation for two months. We hope to hear the opinions and use the feedback for the implementation of the future plan.”

The study also estimates total visitor arrivals could increase from 30.7 million visitors in 2015 up to 40 million arrivals by 2025.
