“A huge feather in the cap,” said an overjoyed Jo Mayer, director of marketing at Clarion Events, when she collected the prestigious Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for its ICE trade show.

The Association of Event Organisers brought together a host of professionals in the events industry to pick up the glamour awards for their work on trade shows. Clarion Events was up against some stiff competition from the Ideal Home Show, The National Boat Show and Olympia London. Mayer commented: “A small group of people worked really hard on our ICE marketing campaign. As the visitors will remember we took a ‘discovery’ theme as our foundation and it worked really well. The category at AEO had to be ‘creative, innovative, compelling and effective’ and each of those attributes were very clearly of supreme quality. Everyone involved should take a collective bow for this award.” She added: “The awards are, in effect, our industry’s ‘Oscars’ and it is a super achievement. I am still on cloud nine."
