The Rank Group today announced a five per cent like-for-like revenue increase for the 20 weeks to May 17. Group brand revenues show that Grosvenor Casinos is up seven per cent, again on the like-for-like basis, while Mecca has risen three per cent.

The Grosvenor statistics show that the spend per visit is up six per cent but that digital revenue has risen 55 per cent. Henry Birch, chief executive of Rank said: Our digital channels have performed particularly strongly driven by improvements in marketing, retail cross-over and product development.” 

The venues showed flat revenues for the period, but that was an improvement on the decline in the first half.

Birch added: “The board is encouraged that all its businesses have continued to make progress and expects the group’s full-year performance will be in line with managmenent’s expectations. Rank is in a strong financial position, possesses market-leading brands with multi-channel distribution and has a clear strategy for sustained long-term growth.”

Rank has 58 casinos in the UK, two in Belgium, online and mobile offering via grosvenorcasinos.com. Mecca has 91 bingo clubs in the UK, plus online business. It also includes Enracha, a nine-club bingo chain in Spain.
