Construction of the Margaritaville Casino in Tulsa in the US state of Oklahoma began on Wednesday.
The project will include a hotel that will be the largest in Tulsa, a pool and restaurants. The casino and hotel should be ready to open in about two years.
The Muscogee Creek Nation said they hope that after the $365m project is completed they will be able to build more attractions along the river.
The project will create “two casinos in one,” with the existing River Spirit connected to the new Margaritaville, each with a distinctive decor and atmosphere.
But Creek officials describe it not just as a casino but as a “resort destination,” with retail shops, convention space and a 3,000-seat entertainment venue.
