Caesars Entertainment is reported to be planning to build a $1bn casino resort in the Philippines.

According to Bloomberg, chairman Gary Loveman and president Steven Tight held preliminary talks with Philippine President Benigno Aquino last month to discuss building a resort there.

“There’s no major international brand currently in Manila,” Tight said in an interview with Bloomberg. “There’s a chance to create something that will drive tourism, that will really put Manila on the regional tourism map.”

So far, the Philippines has licensed four companies to build casino resorts in the Entertainment City complex. Caesars is understood to be seeking a licence to build on land a few miles away next to Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
