A survey has found that Tokyo’s Odaiba waterfront district is the preferred location for an integrated casino resort.

Advertising agency Hakuhodo surveyed 4,700 people and found that 25.9 per cent considered Odaiba to be the most suitable location for a casino property of this kind, the Japan Times reports.

Okinawa Prefecture was popular with 14.2 per cent of respondents, followed by Osaka (13.2 per cent) and Yokohama (10.5 per cent).

Hakuhodo predicted that a casino resort in Odaiba would attract as many as 24 million visitors a year from within Japan alone. Lawmakers are currently debating legislation to allow the development of major casino resorts in the country.
