The Dutch gaming industry was shocked to learn last week that Peter Kolen had died at the age of just 54. Peter died in his sleep on the night of Tuesday, April 22.

He was with Holland Casino for many years, having joined in 1987 as a slot manager. He was responsible for many start-up slot departments within the group, working in the locations at Zandvoort, Nijmegen, Groningen, Breda and Scheveningen.

Peter was one of the first Holland Casino executives to take this expertise abroad with the international department and was responsible for the slots start-ups in the Casino Regina in Canada, Casino Lugano in Switzerland, Cosmopol Casinos in Sweden and other projects.

He left Holland Casino to join Casinos Austria and handled the start-up of the slots department in the new Brussels Casino. From there he moved on to St Moritz and then to Casino Zurich.

On April 1 this year he left the casino industry to become general manager at a hotel in Arosa, Switzerland.

The funeral will be held in Groningen on Friday of this week. Peter leaves a wife, Anja, and a daughter.
